Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains, in plain language, what data BoardMe collects and why. We collect the minimum needed to run a trustworthy platform.
What we collect
Your name, email and phone number when you sign up; listing details and photos if you are an owner; and your NIC number and a photo of your NIC if you list property — used solely to verify you are a real owner.
How NIC data is protected
NIC images are stored in a private, access-controlled store. They are visible only to our verification team through short-lived links, are never shown publicly, and are never shared with other users or third parties.
What other users see
Seekers see your listing details and your first name. Your phone number is only revealed to a seeker after you reply to their inquiry. Seekers' contact details are never public.
Your rights
You can edit your profile at any time and delete your account (and all associated data) from the Account settings page. For any other data request, contact us and we will respond in line with Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act.
Photos and location data
Listing photos are published publicly. Before publishing we remove all embedded metadata, including the GPS coordinates that phone cameras record in every photo — see our Photo Policy. A photo can still show an identifiable person or place, so owners must only upload photos they have the right to publish. If a photo of you appears on BoardMe without your consent, report the listing and we will remove it. We handle personal data in line with Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022.
